This page controls MAIRA’s Typhoon Wind Kit fans. MAIRA calculates fan power from iRacing vehicle motion and sends left/right commands to the fan controller. It also displays live fan power % and fan RPM reported back by the hardware.
Connection
Connect to MAIRA Wind
Connects/disconnects MAIRA to the wind controller over USB serial port. If the checkbox remains unchecked after clicking on it, then that indicates some kind of issue occurred trying to connect to the MAIRA wind controller.
Default: OFF
Connect to MAIRA Wind on App Startup
If enabled, MAIRA automatically connects to the wind controller during app startup.
Default: OFF
Settings
These affect how MAIRA computes fan power from vehicle motion.
Master Wind Power
Overall multiplier for fan power (acts like a master volume for wind).
Default: 100%
Minimum Speed
Forces a minimum wind level even at very low speeds (useful if your fans stall at low PWM). Also great for those hot summer days when you want to have the fan constantly blowing even while car you car is parked.
Default: OFF
Wind Curving
Controls how much wind “leans” left/right during sideways motion (slip/rotation).
Default: 100%
Fan Power
This section is a speed → fan power curve editor that works in similar fashion to an audio equalizer.
Each vertical slider pair sets one point on the curve:
The speed (top value) is controlled by the left side (red) lever.
The fan power (bottom value) is controlled by the right side (blue) lever.
How it works
MAIRA computes car speed magnitude from iRacing car velocity, and finds where that speed fits among the 10 speed data points. Then, it computes fan power using Hermite interpolation between points (smooth curve instead of sharp steps).
Fan Status
Left Fan / Right Fan
Shows live feedback from the controller. For each fan, MAIRA shows:
- Power (%) — the last commanded fan power
- RPM — reported back from the controller
Test buttons
Test (Left): toggles the left fan to 100%
Test (Right): toggles the right fan to 100%
This is handy for confirming wiring, confirming fan direction, and verifying RPM feedback.
