This is a list of all the features that are currently in MAIRA.
General Features
- Most settings can be saved per car, per track, per track configuration, and per wet/dry condition — MAIRA works out which values apply and loads them for you as you get in the car
- Ability to control most settings to various inputs (keys, knobs, buttons, hats)
- Controller profiles – save and switch between named sets of button/input mappings
- Tuning profiles – see every per-car, per-track and wet/dry set of settings MAIRA has saved, what each one changes, and revert, copy, promote or clean them up
- Automatic timestamped settings backups, with recovery at startup if the settings file is ever damaged
- SimHub plugin
Awesome force feedback experience – the main feature!
- 360 Hz force feedback for all wheelbases — iRacing’s own native rate, on a high-resolution timer
- Works for all types of wheelbases – gear driven, belt driven, and direct drive
- The FFB graph — everything MAIRA does to the force feedback signal is built out of modules wired together in a graph, so you can see the whole signal path and change any part of it
- Four built-in graphs to start from, plus as many of your own as you like — copy one, edit it in the node editor, and export or import graphs to share them
- You never have to open the node editor: each graph brings its most useful controls out into a quick-controls section, and you choose which ones those are by pinning them
- Strengths are in Nm at the wheel rather than percentages, so a number means the same thing on any wheelbase
- Modules for every part of the signal chain –
- Sources: 60 Hz and 360 Hz steering torque, wheel LFE, wheel velocity, friction, soft lock, and wheel centering
- Signal processing: gain, low pass and high pass filters, compressor, slew limiter, slew compressor, transient enhancer, adaptive smoother, interpolator, and prediction
- Mixers: add, subtract, blend, adaptive blend, and A/B switch
- Effects: crash protection, curb protection, speed gain, torque dither, and the understeer / oversteer / seat-of-pants wheel forces
- Vibrations: ABS, gear change, shift RPM, engine RPM, road texture, slip texture, and understeer / oversteer / seat-of-pants
- Output: curve shaping and a soft limiter, so the approach to full force is squeezed instead of clipped
- Prediction removes telemetry latency, adjustable in milliseconds
- Any module’s knobs, switches and on/off toggle can be mapped to a button, so you can adjust or disable a single effect from the cockpit
- Record up to five minutes of a drive at the full 360 Hz, then replay it through the graph in the preview and tune your force feedback with the sim closed — with a track map, a hover data card, and zoom and scroll over the trace
- Coming from an older version? Your algorithm choice becomes the matching built-in graph and your tuned values are carried across for you
- RPM lights on Logitech TrueForce wheels (G PRO, RS50, G923)
Steering effects
- Understeer, oversteer, and seat-of-pants steering effects
- Calibrated to each car
- Pedal vibration effects, plus wheel vibration and wheel force effects as FFB graph modules
- Overlay to show how your car is behaving, similar to the skid-slip indicator on aircraft
- Robot driver – outputs steering, brake, throttle, and shift up/down to a vJoy virtual joystick, letting MAIRA drive the car on track to learn and measure it
Pedal effects
- Works with all Simagic pedal haptic devices natively
- Works with some other brands via SimHub
- Mix, match, and tune different effects including –
- Gear change (separate settings for shift into gear and shift into neutral)
- ABS activation
- RPM (constant or vibrate when its time to shift)
- Wheel lock and spin
- Clutch slip
- Understeer, oversteer, and seat-of-pants
Wind simulation
- Works with the custom MAIRA Typhoon Wind
- Equalizer-style fine tuning of fan speeds based on car speed
- Wind curving
- Minimum fan speed (for those hot days)
G Tensioner
- USB serial-controlled G Tensioner integration
- Real-time graphs showing surge, sway, and heave forces
- Responds to G-forces (surge, sway, heave) during racing
- Seat-of-pants effect for enhanced immersion
- Vibration effects (ABS, wheel slip, rumble)
- Per-axis control (normal/inverted/disabled modes)
- Separate left and right shoulder control
Sounds
- Custom sounds support (drop in your own wav files)
- Adjust loudness and pitch (frequency shift)
- Sound effects for –
- ABS activation
- Wheel lock and spin
- Understeer, oversteer, and seat-of-pants
- Brake and throttle warning (when both are pressed simultaneously)
- FFB clipping warning
- Recording started and recording stopped
Captions
- Uses ElevenLabs Speech-to-Text to convert iRacing voice chat into captions
- Runs in real time while radio traffic is active
- Text is shown in a movable/scalable overlay window
Commentary
- AI-powered race commentary using ElevenLabs Text-to-Speech
- Spotter calls for car proximity (car left, car right, three-wide situations, clear)
- Flag announcements (green, yellow, white, checkered, blue, black, debris, etc.)
- Multi-language support with customizable phrase templates
- Priority-based voice queue system
- Configurable reminder intervals for proximity calls
Trading Paints
- Downloads paints from Trading Paints
- Notifies iRacing after paints have been downloaded (so cars are reloaded)
- No need to run the Trading Paints app
- Optionally delete downloaded paints (keeping your own) when iRacing closes, to keep your paint folder from filling up
Graph
- Shows real time data graphs for –
- Input torque from iRacing (360 Hz and 60 Hz)
- Input wheel LFE from iRacing
- Output torque from MAIRA
- Clutch, brake, and throttle pedal haptics
- Timer jitter
Overlays
- Gap monitor – movable/scalable overlay displaying real-time gap information to cars ahead and behind
- Delta monitor – movable/scalable overlay showing lap time and delta versus your last lap and versus the leader
- Grip-O-Meter – movable/scalable overlay showing real-time grip usage (under/oversteer and seat-of-pants forces)
- All overlays can be made visible and draggable, optionally shown when off track and in replay mode
Simulator Data
- Shows the data stream from iRacing in real time –
- Header data
- Session information
- Telemetry data
Game bridge
- Use MAIRA with racing games other than iRacing (experimental)
- Supports Le Mans Ultimate, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa EVO, Assetto Corsa Rally, rFactor 2, and RaceRoom Racing Experience
- Reads each game’s shared memory directly – only rFactor 2 needs a (free, community) plugin
- Telemetry is sampled on MAIRA’s own 360 Hz clock and fed through the same FFB graph iRacing uses, so every module works the same way in any supported game
- Connects and disconnects on its own as the game starts and stops
